Smurfity Smurf Smurf

August 16, 2011 1 comment

Well this morning I weighed in at 273.  Down 4 pounds from last week.   Not bad for not really doing too much beyond avoiding blantly terrible food.  Baby steps.

The family went out to see The Smurf movie tonight (not in 3D thankfully).  My offical review is MEH.  It was okay.  As far as kid movies go it was watchable but not great (great being Megamind or How To Train Your Dragon etc).  Hank Azaria as Gargamel was the saving grace. SPOILER ALERT: he gets tasered and hit by a bus.  It doesn’t take a lot to entertain this family.

The thing that upset me the most was the preview for the upcoming Alvin and Chipmunks movie.  What happened to Jason Lee?  He went from one of my favourite actors, staring in the early Kevin Smith movies, then became a Scientologist and now this.  What a waste.

Ten Days And Twelve Pound

October 25, 2010 Leave a comment

Well I really have my back against the wall.  I need to weigh 218.6 on Nov 3rd.  This morning I was 230.6, I have been in the 228-232 range for a month.  Who likes beef anyway?  I did make a promise that I will not enjoy the double down until I am under 200lbs.  The reports I have had from the people I know have tried it range from ‘average and overpriced’ to ‘it gave me super powers’.  So a little hard to judge.

I did manage to get out and see Jack Ass 3D.  Never too early for Oscar buzz I suppose but it was pretty good (if you are into that sort of thing).  If you did not like the first two then don’t go into this one expecting that finally they have the formula right and your going to love it, you won’t.  They used the 3D stuff in some cool ways, especially in the high production value opening scene.  But it was few and far between and still not worth my time to wear the glasses and pay extra money.

This week in video games we see both Rock Band 3 and Force Unleashed 2 come out.  But the game that will occupy all of my free time for the next chunk of time will be Fable 3.  If you have anything important for me to do, you might want to try me tonight.  We are really in the video game season now, there is a PILE of stuff out already I want to try (Def Jam Rap Start anyone?),  and another TON of stuff coming out by Christmas.  As much as I collect and talk about games, I really don’t have a lot of time to play.  Is any of the local political parties pushing the 3 day weekend?

A Kick Ass Review

August 7, 2010 Leave a comment

Didn’t make it to the Drive In tonight but we did rent some movies.  Just finished watching Kick Ass and I really liked it.  Much better then I expected and I would recommend it to you as long as you do not have an issue with blood or 8 year old girls cursing.

But what I really wanted to ask … Is there something wrong with me?  For some reason I find amputations funny.  Even if they are intended to be funny, I find them funnier then the next person.  There is a famous story about me when the group of guys went to see Saving Private Ryan in a small movie theatre in Wasaga Beach.  During the opening ‘storming the beach’ one of the soldiers actually picks up his own arm.  Well let me tell you, I found it Hi-Larious.  Oddly no one else in the theatre seemed to be laughing, actually it was quite the opposite.

In Kick Ass when we first see Hit Girl in action one gentlemen has a leg severed.  I don’t know what it is but once again I couldn’t control myself from laughing.  This is probably a serious mental issue that I should see a professional about.  Instead I will take it to the masses and let you diagnose me.

4.5 / 5 Stars
